Sherlock Holmes Movie Review

Finally, the long wait for this movie have come to an end. In our country, Philippines, It’s already available on Cinemas, since yesterday.

I wont write a long review for this movie.

Me and my 2 other friends watched it in Glorietta Cinemas. To my amusement, LOTS of folks were there to watch the movie. Yeah. I was really SURPRISED to think that Holmes is not that famous here. But I found a reason why there were lots of folks who watched. It’s because the lead actor is “Robert Downey Jr.”

Okay, so the movie was all fun and comedy or something like that but it’s not the real Holmes. The set-up, especially Holmes apartment, wasn’t that convincing at all. Irene Adler’s role was’nt a surprise to me. She is one of the notable female characters  in the Story and Holmes only love, but her connection with Professor Moriarty is a mystery to me. Speaking of Moriarty, he appeared quite early. Well, if they are planning a sequel i wont wonder why he’s there.

Although the movie showed Holmes intellectual capacity, the ways how he find clues, his violin skills I was still disappointed well, based from the trailers before, I knew this is coming.

As a Sherlockian, I want to see more of a real portrayal of Holmes based on ACD’s description of him and not the new-comedic Holmes.

My FIRST official planner for 2010

So, im not the typical type of person who are fond of writing schedules and some other stuffs just to remind me of something but 2010 is a new BIG beginning for me so i’ve thought of having a planner, where I can write all of my plans,  future plans and it can be also a sort of diary lol

Nowadays i’m fond of buying clothes/bags online, so frequent checking of online shops introduced me to Belle de Jour 2010 Power Planner, which indeed was a good choice of planner.

I didn’t ordered it as soon as i saw it. I asked myself first if I really need a planner. It took me some weeks to decide if i’ll buy or not. December came and I realized that having a planner won’t hurt me that much and so i ordered it. It cost 598php on bookstores and in the online shop where I ordered it, it only cost 550php BUT shipping fee is not free so you have to add 65php. So, its better to buy in the bookstores.

The planner is good ^^ and it includes 60 coupons of different shops and restaurants where you can avail some free and discounted items. You can google Belle de Jour and check their product :] It’s worth it naman. ^^

Mouri Kogoro’s voice actor was dismissed on the DC series

If you can remember I posted the DC voice actors before and this post will be about one of the seiyuu in the series.

Kamiya Akira, the voice actor of Mouri Kogoro, was dismissed 2 months ago on the series as a seiyuu. According to Akira’s official blog site he said that “There was an issue on the contract. It’s a matter of faith, justice and sincerity” and that he’s the only one to blame.

According to Mainichi News, the reason for the dismissal was a discord between the anime producer and Kamiya Akira regarding the guarantee fee. Kamiya has been negotiating with TV companies and the anime producers to raise the guarantee fees of seiyuu, whose salaries are significantly lower than those of the normal actors. Yomiuri TV, the producer of Detective Conan, was perplexed with Kamiya’s premature disclosure because they were planning to announce the change of the voice actor in Weekly Shounen Sunday to be released on October 28th.

Kamiya Akira explained the reason in his blog. One of the staff of the production company leaked confidential information of Kamiya’s contract with the producer in a blog (probably mixi) and defamed him. Kamiya and the producer were about to reach an agreement but the negotiation broke off due to the leak, which was distorted with ill intention. Kamiya asked a man to intervene but the producers fired him in the end.

Kamiya then offered his apologies to all of the fans for this turn of fortune. He also offered his apologies to the manga creator Gosho Aoyama, lead voice actress Minami Takayama (Conan Edogawa), voice actress Wakana Yamazaki (Ran Mouri), voice actor Kenichi Ogata (Hiroshi Agasa), the other members of the cast, the staff of APU Studio, the YTV network, and the publisher Shogakukan. Kamiya begged fans to keep supporting Detective Conan.

He was the seiyuu of Mouri Kogoro since the start of the series until October 10th 2009. As a fan of DC, without him voicing out Kogoro, there will be always the feeling of nostalgia and it will be long enough to get used to it.

The new voice actor of Mouri Kogoro is Koyama Rikiya, although he sounds a little bit like the original Kogoro ~ it’s still not the best.

Last November 29 was my birthday and I just stayed at home because im ‘ill’ -_- Anyway, Jun sent a package for me again~ (YAY! second time ♥ ) it’s his birthday gift for me since we cant be together T__T

The Simpson bag isss sooo cute! lol and the items inside are: 3 boxes of peppero, 6 pairs of cute socks, 3 pieces of chocolates, mini-blanket (which i use alot now!!), Korean keyboard stickers (Jun knows how hard it is for me to type in Korean without a guide xD), flower-style highlighter and letter.

I love all of the items that he sent :] Especially the keyboard stickers lol it will sure help me with my broken-typing-skills xD ahhh and one thing that made me happy about this package is this:

The Polaroid photo is so cool but the handwriting hmmm his penmanship is the worst LOLLL  Jun will kill me if he sees this xD Anyway, he’s so sweet ♥ I love him.

The Raven Chaser

This have come a little bit late. I was busy and my internet connection is a retard until now ugh. -_-

This movie’s main theme is about a close contact to the BO, well it indeed had a contact but it didn’t had that much impact compare to the CRB arc. I expected more. The movies does’nt affect the series anyway so the movie is still good in it’s own way.

I was delighted that most of our “detectives”/”inspector” of the different prefectures were gathered to solve the series of murders. Namely:

1. Yokomizo Sango – Shizuoka Prefecture Police
2. Yokomizo Juugo – Kanagawa Prefecture Police
3. Yamato Kansuke – Nagano Prefecture Police
4. Yamamura Misao – Gunma Prefecture Police
5. Ogino Ayami – Saitama Prefecture Police Movie based character
6. Sato Miwako & Takagi Wataru – Beika City Police Department
7. Matsumoto Kiyonaga – Police Headquarters Superintendent

All in one package.

Anyway, when Conan learned that a BO member was among the inspectors I took note of Superintendent Matsumoto’s reaction when Ran approached him and sent regards to his daughter, he was blank and suddenly came to reality about whom is the person talking to him. I knew then that it was Irish. Well, as for my favorite BO member Vermouth, I was expecting a lot of actions from her. In the end, it was all about the inspectors and their investigation that had come up, BO action came last.

Agasa-Hakase and the Detective Boys played a major role on the movie too as always. If it weren’t for Agasa-Hakase’s trivia about the “The Beatles” lol yeah right the legendary band 5th album entitled “HELP” they wouldn’t know where the ‘real’ Superintendent Matsumoto is imprisoned. I was loling on the part xD

Detective Sato’s reasoning didn’t gave me a blow. She use most of the wits in every case unlike our very famous “INSPECTOR” of Gunma prefecture

Over all, the movie is good and the 14th movie is in production already. Lots of folks are waiting for the ‘grand ending’ of the series, but im not one of them. DC fans knows that Gosho is gonna end the series ’soon’ but I hope the soon is 3 or more years later. Come on~ Almost 14 years of staying tuned on this series, who wouldn’t miss it after it’s ending? I’ll definitely miss Conan and the other characters. Gosho feels the same way too he superduper loves his masterpiece there’s no way that he would end it so easily.

Medical Mission for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana 10.01.09

At Wednesday late afternoon, I received a text message asking us to volunteer for a medical mission. I was hesitated at first but I realized that I haven’t ever been on a volunteer hence, I tagged along.

I woke up in the wee hours of the thursday morning. Me and my company met at North Avenue Station and proceeded to the venue which is the PMA (Philippine Medical Association). We were fortunate enough to be a part of the mission and the team.

Our team was on a convoy because we were not sure on where was the location of our destination, which was at Arpapa Elementary School, Taguig. Unfortunately, our 2hours traveling time wasn’t that good. We got lost and went to a different or should I say wrong destination. We felt sorry because there were people/families who expected that we will bring some goodies there T-T Anyway, after realizing that we were on the wrong destination we packed up asap and left.

Finally, after long hours of traveling, we arrived at Arpapa.. BUT before getting there we have to ride on a improvised boat because the area is still flooded.

Ugh. I wasn’t looking. I was too nervous to take-off my sight out of the boat

The evacuation center was crowded. Lots of kids everywhere, walking bare-footed and swimming on the flood.

We were late so we have to give our service hurriedly. Doctors were there for consulation, Pharmacists to give the prescribed vitamins and medicines and Nurses to assist the people around.

Just that and the mission ended. Although it was a short span of time we were happy to give our service to them and it was a great experience also. That’s why I love my field, what we see are rarely seen by others.

Fail post. I want to write longer but im not in the mood.

OVA8: Female Highschool Detective Suzuki Sonoko’s Casebook

I can’t help but to blog this OVA. So far, of all the episodes, OVA, specials and movies of this series.. this one is really something different. It’s not as what others said that this OVA is ‘bad, worst’ etc. Actually, it is plausible. Plausible because this one really struck the fans.

Who would have known that DC will be something like this?

YES. It’s not a dummy. It’s a ALIEN. LOL I can’t stop laughing over this one. Mitsuhiko’s idea was a ass-kicker. That alien even resurrected the dead man LOLL and as for Ayumi’s idea LOL she’s even worst than Genta xD (In Japanese, wan-wan is what they call for their dogs bark, unlike in english it’s arf-arf)

This OVA is not only for comedic purposes. It also shows how complex a ‘murder-case’ is done especially the trick used but Gosho and Doyle is excluded :D

Kpop boys private life ~

Last June or July maybe, we had our duty at a special institution. We stayed there for 3 days and our group was assigned to the male ward. During our last day, I noticed that there was this lady who were baby sitting and in a glimpse, I saw her white complexion, I assumed she wasn’t a filipina. I looked back and realized that she is a Korean.

I greeted her and our conversation started there. During our conversation I bluntly asked “Do you know Super Junior?” and she was shocked why I knew them. Then she asked “Do you know ***? from Big bang?” Ugh. Sorry, I didn’t heard what name she mentioned because I wasn’t that familiar to Big Bang members although I know the band. I was amazed for what she said, “Because my friend is friends with him so we drank in a bar” unconsciously I asked “Do they have girlfriends?” and her answer was “Yes they have~ but it’s a secret because you know.. their fans” I was “Ahhh…”

Even myself is convinced that Kpop boyband members doesn’t dare to have a relationship with someone because of their fans. Well, because of many incidents that had happened between the fans because of jealousy. And as for the idols, it’s not that easy to keep a private life for that long, it will eventually discovered by fans sooner or later. Goodluck to them.

Stupid me, how can I not get that unni’s name. -_-
