[Poll] Detective Conan, 16 years of airing.. what do you think of it now?

April 16, 2012 Leave a comment

As every DC fan would know, the series has been airing for 16 years now, it is indeed the longest anime series that I know. I started watching DC in 1990s, I stopped then re-watched everything in 2007 up to present. Through these years, I can’t help but to notice that the cases seems repetitive now. I am truly a Detective Conan fanatic that no matter how repetitive they are, I wouldn’t drop the series from my list but there are times that they are not interesting anymore, most especially for the anime fillers. Gosho have said in an interview that the cases are not all his ideas, of course, he needs a second, third, fourth brain. I guess if it wouldn’t have been for that, DC wouldn’t last this long. I’ve also noticed that (i’m referring to the anime) the summaries in the beginning of the episodes are quite long.. longer than the older episodes which is kind of annoying to me, although it helps us to remember the previous episode. Most of the time, I just skip that part.

The series stayed as it was since the beginning, there are few changes but wouldn’t “something new” will make the fans more excited until its ending? Like:

  • Makoto would have a major role at least even in just one episode.
  • Detective Boys never left 1-B, they should grow..
  • Yusaku Kudo in detective mode

I’ve written this post to know what you guys think of Detective Conan now. I created a poll and would appreciate it if you take some time to answer and/or leave comments about this topic.

Detective Conan: Movie 16

April 15, 2012 Leave a comment

Yesterday, April 14, 2012 was the airing of DC Movie 16 in Japan. It has been all over twitter and I realized that, it’s the time of the month again.

Movie 16: The Eleventh Striker

Kogoro’s detective agency receives a mysterious phone call. Someone on the other end warns about a bomb and leaves behind a code, “The Boy in Blue and The Blue Zebra, the rain from above …” If Conan can decipher the riddle, he can stop the bomb. An adventure begins for Conan and the Detective Boys, taking place at a soccer match between Hideo Akagi of the Tokyo Spirits and Ryusuke Higo of Big Osaka.

Detective Conan: Movie 15

February 17, 2011 Leave a comment

Oh well, we are already in our 15th year of Detective Conan legacy and they never failed to give us a kickass movie anually!

Here is the 15th Movie for Detective Conan that will air in Japan on April 16, 2011 entitled Quarter of Silence.

The story begins with a threat against the Tokyo governor, Asakura. The letter threatens to blow up the newly opened and municipally‐owned subway tunnel the following day but thanks to Conan, after he heard about the warning letter from Kogorou, he managed to prevent and stop the explosion and no casualties noted.

Conan and the gang went and investigated Niigata Prefecture where a dam was built when Asakura was still the Minister of Transport.  There might be where the culprit lies!

Detective Conan latest episode as of 01/12/11

My first DC update after a year! phew.

Who knew that this anime would drag so long for 14 years? Well, no one actually knew. Even Gosho himself didn’t expected this anime to run for this long.

For an anime, this has been truly airing for SO LONG but i’m not complaining or getting tired by it, Im actually wanting more and more! Hundreds or even a thousand of episodes until their brain cells can’t produce any information at all, LOL Gosho is already getting old, Im hoping that he won’t end this anime drastically.

Going back to the topic, we currently have 603 episodes of Detective Conan! That’s a lot isn’t it? If im new to this anime, I would definitely NOT going to watch it anymore. That would be too much for me lol

This is the updated list of DC episode guide. Make use of it well!  Detective Conan complete episode guide ^^

Detective Conan 14th Movie: The Lost Ship in the Sky

February 21, 2010 1 comment

Time flies really fast. It’s just been over 6 months after I’ve watched the 13th movie and now here comes the 14th movie, to be shown on April 17.

If you had watched the 13th movie, a short clip about the upcoming movie was revealed.

Shonen Sunday had released “The Lost Ship in the Sky” as the title of the movie, starring our very famous thief, Kaitou Kid. Suzuki Jirokichi, Sonoko’s uncle, invites Conan, the Detective Boys, Ran and others to ride Bell 3, the largest airship in the world. Aboard the airship is the Lady of the Sky jewel which Kid is targeting however,  a mysterious terrorist group known as Red Shamu-neko hijacks the airship itself.

I’ve been waiting Kid for ages! Well, rumors are saying that Ran is starting to fall inlove with Kid and I think that’s so not gonna happen. Anyway, Im excited for this movie. Kid’s the best when he is in the air :] Gotta love this movie!

Mouri Kogoro’s voice actor was dismissed on the DC series

December 8, 2009 Leave a comment

If you can remember I posted the DC voice actors before and this post will be about one of the seiyuu in the series.

Kamiya Akira, the voice actor of Mouri Kogoro, was dismissed 2 months ago on the series as a seiyuu. According to Akira’s official blog site he said that “There was an issue on the contract. It’s a matter of faith, justice and sincerity” and that he’s the only one to blame.

According to Mainichi News, the reason for the dismissal was a discord between the anime producer and Kamiya Akira regarding the guarantee fee. Kamiya has been negotiating with TV companies and the anime producers to raise the guarantee fees of seiyuu, whose salaries are significantly lower than those of the normal actors. Yomiuri TV, the producer of Detective Conan, was perplexed with Kamiya’s premature disclosure because they were planning to announce the change of the voice actor in Weekly Shounen Sunday to be released on October 28th.

Kamiya Akira explained the reason in his blog. One of the staff of the production company leaked confidential information of Kamiya’s contract with the producer in a blog (probably mixi) and defamed him. Kamiya and the producer were about to reach an agreement but the negotiation broke off due to the leak, which was distorted with ill intention. Kamiya asked a man to intervene but the producers fired him in the end.

Kamiya then offered his apologies to all of the fans for this turn of fortune. He also offered his apologies to the manga creator Gosho Aoyama, lead voice actress Minami Takayama (Conan Edogawa), voice actress Wakana Yamazaki (Ran Mouri), voice actor Kenichi Ogata (Hiroshi Agasa), the other members of the cast, the staff of APU Studio, the YTV network, and the publisher Shogakukan. Kamiya begged fans to keep supporting Detective Conan.

He was the seiyuu of Mouri Kogoro since the start of the series until October 10th 2009. As a fan of DC, without him voicing out Kogoro, there will be always the feeling of nostalgia and it will be long enough to get used to it.

The new voice actor of Mouri Kogoro is Koyama Rikiya, although he sounds a little bit like the original Kogoro ~ it’s still not the best.

The Raven Chaser

This have come a little bit late. I was busy and my internet connection is a retard until now ugh. -_-

RC

This movie’s main theme is about a close contact to the BO, well it indeed had a contact but it didn’t had that much impact compare to the CRB arc. I expected more. The movies does’nt affect the series anyway so the movie is still good in it’s own way.

I was delighted that most of our “detectives”/”inspector” of the different prefectures were gathered to solve the series of murders. Namely:

1. Yokomizo Sango – Shizuoka Prefecture Police
2. Yokomizo Juugo – Kanagawa Prefecture Police
3. Yamato Kansuke – Nagano Prefecture Police
4. Yamamura Misao – Gunma Prefecture Police
5. Ogino Ayami – Saitama Prefecture Police Movie based character
6. Sato Miwako & Takagi Wataru – Beika City Police Department
7. Matsumoto Kiyonaga – Police Headquarters Superintendent

ins

All in one package.

Anyway, when Conan learned that a BO member was among the inspectors I took note of Superintendent Matsumoto’s reaction when Ran approached him and sent regards to his daughter, he was blank and suddenly came to reality about whom is the person talking to him. I knew then that it was Irish. Well, as for my favorite BO member Vermouth, I was expecting a lot of actions from her. In the end, it was all about the inspectors and their investigation that had come up, BO action came last.

Agasa-Hakase and the Detective Boys played a major role on the movie too as always. If it weren’t for Agasa-Hakase’s trivia about the “The Beatles” lol yeah right the legendary band 5th album entitled “HELP” they wouldn’t know where the ‘real’ Superintendent Matsumoto is imprisoned. I was loling on the part xD

Detective Sato’s reasoning didn’t gave me a blow. She use most of the wits in every case unlike our very famous “INSPECTOR” of Gunma prefecture bibi1004_003

Over all, the movie is good and the 14th movie is in production already. Lots of folks are waiting for the ‘grand ending’ of the series, but im not one of them. DC fans knows that Gosho is gonna end the series ‘soon’ but I hope the soon is 3 or more years later. Come on~ Almost 14 years of staying tuned on this series, who wouldn’t miss it after it’s ending? I’ll definitely miss Conan and the other characters. Gosho feels the same way too2008-01-23_22;49;46_leehansin21 he superduper loves his masterpiece 067_gkdud1234567_gkdud1234567 there’s no way that he would end it so easily.

OVA8: Female Highschool Detective Suzuki Sonoko’s Casebook

October 2, 2009 1 comment

I can’t help but to blog this OVA. So far, of all the episodes, OVA, specials and movies of this series.. this one is really something different. It’s not as what others said that this OVA is ‘bad, worst’ etc. Actually, it is plausible. Plausible because this one really struck the fans.

Who would have known that DC will be something like this?

C4

Can you tell something what’s new on the photo?

YES. It’s not a dummy. It’s a ALIEN. LOL I can’t stop laughing over this one. Mitsuhiko’s idea was a ass-kicker. That alien even resurrected the dead man LOLL and as for Ayumi’s idea LOL she’s even worst than Genta xD (In Japanese, wan-wan is what they call for their dogs bark, unlike in english it’s arf-arf)

This OVA is not only for comedic purposes. It also shows how complex a ‘murder-case’ is done especially the trick used but Gosho and Doyle is excluded :D

Okiya Subaru, who is he?

September 15, 2009 7 comments

Jun is out and I have nothing to do.

This post is gonna tackle about the very famous ‘Okiya Subaru’ of DC~ Many are speculating about his TRUE identity. This is what i’ve come up with what i have read but before that let me give a brief description about our character. Okiya first showed on Episode 509: Red, White, Yellow and the Detective Boys and on file 622 respectively as a nameless suspect of burning down an apartment. When Conan learned that he is a Sherlockian too, our little hero decided to let Okiya to stay on his house (Kudo’s house). Okiya was once seen that he is drinking ‘Bourbon’ which created the speculations that he has a major role on the series.

Picture will be uploaded.

cgfc

Folks think that Okiya is:
↘ Shuichi Akai in disguise
↘ The newest BO member; Bourbon
↘ Another protagonist. A FBI/CIA.
↘ Someone similar to Akai, someone who want to destroy the organization and was told to contact conan in case something bad happen to Akai.

Gosho really is something. I myself cannot think of a concrete thought of who Okiya really is. I’m torn apart! [Good job Gosho-sama T-T] But although im not pretty sure about this, i think he is ‘Bourbon’. He has to be, BO needs a smart member. I can’t see Gosho doing the “they look like the enemy but they’re really allies” thing again with this part of the series.  He already done it twice before [Jodie/Vermouth, Eisuke/Rena] BUT then again, Conan trusts Okiya. I never saw Conan trust someone that easily and just for the reason that he is a ‘Sherlockian’.

There are so many bothering points about this guy’s identity. How did he know that Sonoko have police acquaintances when in fact it was their first meeting [File 640] and on the latest episode where Okiya is involved [Ikkaku rock, file 665] how did he know that DB often helps the police in solving cases by giving hints? which maybe means that, from these subtle hints are pointing at the possibly of him being Bourbon.

Well, folks are free to speculate about anything, even at the end of their wits.
